Indian Rummy

In our great nation, Rummy is commonly known as Indian Rummy, and it is a very loved and treasured game of the people. It’s useful to note that Indian Rummy involves the use of 13 cards for each player. That said, there are still some variations of Rummy on our fair shores as well. Indian Rummy Variants

Points Rummy

A lightning fast version of Indian Rummy, and also commonly referred to as Points Rummy, Points Rummy promises loads of excitement. In this variant, the game is played for points, which the players assign a predetermined cash value to. This is ‘a winner takes all’ variant of Rummy, where the winner walks away with all the winnings, and the cards are only dealt once. The value of these winnings in turn are arrived at by the number of points a player scores, and the cash value attached to each point, which was previously agreed upon by the players at the start of the game.

Pools Rummy

Often regarded as the most basic form, and the easiest of the Rummy variants, Pools Rummy offers several thrills and spills. This is a longer version of the game, and is usually the choice of Rummy connoisseurs and skilled players. The objective of the game is to score as few points as possible. Do note that there are no specific number of deals in this variant, and players are duly eliminated from the table once they amass a fixed number of points, this total is usually 101 or 201 points, and this gives rise to variants of Pools Rummy called ‘101’ and ‘201’. Gameplay continues till all but one player remains at the table, and this player is deemed to be the winner. Players are required to pay a fixed entry fee to begin playing Pools Rummy, and the prize money is the sum total of the entry fee of all the players at the table.

Deals Rummy

Another thrill-a-minute of the version of Indian Rummy, Deals Rummy is so named because the number of deals are predetermined or fixed. The number of deals are usually fixed at 2, 3 or 6. As such, the player who has the fewest points at the end of the decided number of deals is said to be the winner. Players are required to pay a fixed entry fee to begin playing Deals Rummy, and the prize money is the sum total of the entry fee of all the players at the table.

Rummy Tournaments

Rummy Tournaments are a celebration of the game! Typically, they attract the finest players, and those who thrive in the face of competition. Tournaments are structured in such a way that they are played at multi-table and multiplayer levels. Usually, players would have to progress through a series of levels which involve multiple players, on their way to winning the prize pool. There are a variety of tournaments that are regularly conducted such as, cash tournaments, loyalty tournaments, free roll tournaments, promotional tournaments, and so much more.

Besides the 13 card variant of Indian Rummy, a 21 card version also exists. That said, it doesn’t enjoy the popularity of 13 card Rummy or Indian Rummy, nor is it played as competitively as Indian Rummy.
